Inspire. Empower. Support. Revitalize.
Meet Heather
As a long-time sufferer of anxiety and intermittent bouts of depression, yoga was often recommended to me. I resisted. I endured the pain of strenuous workouts too often. My mind didn’t quiet. Then finally in my late 30’s, I decided to try yoga. I didn’t like it. It was slow, I couldn’t sit still for that long, I wanted to run. I stuck with it though. My mind started to clear. I didn’t feel so agitated all the time and I reacted less immediately. I began to notice a transformational shift in my overall physical and mental health.
Yoga Exploration on a Deeper Level
My innate curiosity about the ancient practice of yoga led me to explore it on a deeper level. I went on to receive a registered 200-hour yoga teaching certification, and later an additional 300-hour certification. It was at this point that I decided to turn my hobby into a career. After working 17 years in New York City within a corporate environment, in 2019, I moved back to my hometown of Baltimore, Maryland to finish my master’s degree in yoga therapy. I still have the corporate job, but my yoga therapy practice allows me to feel more balanced.
I’m not saying yoga is a “cure all,” and I still experience anxiety and depression at times, but I now have the tools to alleviate some of the symptoms that come with both. Yoga gave me permission to say I may not be okay all the time, and that’s OKAY. I still love my cardio, barre and strength training workouts, but yoga and meditation are what ultimately make me feel more whole, content and grounded.
Life is a Bit Quieter Now
I traded in small apartments, subways, and fancy dinners for a home with a yard, my own car, and simple meals in. I love getting outside, writing, reading, drinking good wine, spending time with my family, and playing with my dog, Lola.
Specialties
I specialize in working one-on-one and in small group settings with people experiencing pain, stress, anxiety, depression and chronic conditions, utilizing therapeutic yoga techniques that aim to enhance the mind-body connection. My goal is to create a safe space for you to move on your own terms, get curious, explore, heal and feel empowered. I want to help you reconnect with your wholeness (which is always there!) for optimal health and well-being so you may live your best life.
